Google Maps has added a new great calling feature. Using Google Maps as you have done before, you are given the option make a call directly from the search results. To illustrate the Google call feature, I searched for Microsoft in Redmond, Washington using Google Maps. In the search results I was provided with Microsoft's address as well as phone number with a call link. When I clicked on the call link, I was invited to input my phone number. After I input my number I clicked on Connect for free. After clicking on the button, my phone rang and a male computer voice announced: "Connecting." I was immediately connected to the call made to Microsoft. At the time of initiating the call, I recommend that you check Remember this phone number so you will not have to enter your phone number in again allowing for a 2 click phone call. Google is providing the call link as a free service to all businesses. Google also claims that there will be no ads and ads do not influence the ranking of a particular business. Google will pay for the cost of the phone call. To date, this feature is only available to U.S. businesses with a verified phone number. What about my privacy? Google claims that the phone number that you enter is only used once and the connection is made automatically between you and the business. Google will not use your number to make any future calls. Also, Google assures users that your information will be deleted. For more information, view Google's Click to Call Privacy Policy. Caller ID The businesses phone number that you are calling will show up on your caller ID allowing you to easily save the business' phone number for a later use.
